The Turn500 is also precisely actuated using the Control control unit and all parts such as for example the vector-regulated frequency converter and the modern, robust three-phase technology are designed for maximum consistency and precision. In this way, an absolutely constant synchronisation accuracy is also achieved for eccentric workpieces (such as pipe elbows and fittings). This is a quite central influencing factor and guarantee for an exact seam quality for automated welds. The Turn500 has sufficient power reserves for continuous synchronisation and guarantees a long service life due to its high quality machining.
The welding position can be ideally adjusted depending on the workpiece from 0 to 120 degrees using infinitely variable swivel adjustment. This is performed using a hand wheel; alternatively an electric motor is also available. The solid basic structure of the Turn500 provides high intrinsic stability, insensitivity to vibrations and is designed for transport using a lift truck or forklift. The torch bracket with the large stand arm is installed directly on the basic structure and is correspondingly stabilised by this. The face plate of the Turn500 has a diameter of 740 mm – it is also optionally available as a 1000 mm version – and provides a universal workpiece holder with the solid 3-jaw chuck made of special cast iron. The large dimensioned hollow shaft (diameter 295 mm) makes possible the clamping of parts near the face plate, the best place for achieving ideal concentricity of the workpiece to be welded. The welding of long pipes and pipe flange connections is also made easier using the hollow shaft. Optional support blocks which can be adjusted for height provide the necessary support stability for all long parts. The workpieces can be safely deposited on them and turn in the cycle of the turn.
The Turn500 can be combined with all components of the LorchAutomation range. Due to its open design and LorchNet connection, the Turn500 can also be flexibly adapted to the requirements of individual automation solutions and can be integrated, for example, in higher level automation systems and production lines.
The new Turn500 will be available in December 2008.
